Joe Wilkins (joe-wilkins.co.uk) is the man, myth and absolute legend behind our beautiful campaign shoots. It often starts with a (slightly mad) shoot brief from Après Plunge, and relies on his mind-reading skills to transform the dream into reality. I'll stop waffling now and leave you to browse his work. Perhaps one day we'll get them in a magazine spread. Each season, there are three non-negotiables I have when designing a wave. 1: The colour palette must be unique to the wave to avoid overproduction and maintain exclusivity for you lovely dippers 2: The shoot location must reflect all of the variables people have when choosing a dipping spot 3: The model must be passionate about getting outdoors and have a love for wild swimming, in all its guises It's safe to say, Freya is action woman, personified. Having grown up in the beautiful Cornish countryside, wild swimming options were in abundance. When she's not cycling around the Pyrenees, you'll likely find her skiing, kayaking or making her own bivvy trousers from sleeping bags! Last year, she biked an incredible 400km from Sheffield to Glasgow to raise money for Sheffield's Children's Hospital. But that's not even scratching the surface... Let's find out more about our Summer '24 model and all-round super hero, Freya. What's your favourite outdoor activity? Favourite outdoor activity is running! Bonus if you can find a spot to dip mid run How does cold water make you feel? Happy and brave! What's your go-to snack, post dip? Snack would be banana bread Describe yourself in three words? Three words would be chaotic … ??? I’m not sure will have to have more of a think What makes you feel unstoppable? I feel unstoppable when I’m in an amazing outfit and well fed Finally... What's next on your bucket list? To learn how to skii off piste and do a skii tour Until next season, happy dipping! Emily x Evenings filtering through, inch by inch, Spring is coming.
Whispers from wood pigeons, testing their song, Spring is coming. Delicate breeze on fresh cheeks, a subtle warmth, Spring is coming. Toes slice into water, still cooled by the Winter chill. But wait. Wait until buds appear, monochromatic landscape is scattered with lime and bottle green. Wait for the daffodils, patiently sat in supermarkets, willing the sun into our homes. Wait for the early morning risers, welcoming the day with open arms, not sluggish apathy. We are nature, we plunge year round and adapt like nature. We grow and are cut back, and grow back stronger than ever before. Like nature wants us to know, in the bleakest of days Spring Is Coming. |
